The BCCI and the players are analyzing on what went wrong with the mega event. According to media sources, the BCCI is currently speaking with former India captain MS Dhoni.
The board is considering keeping Captain Cool, who has extensive experience winning ICC titles, on board in some position. According to reports, Dhoni would retire from the Indian Premier League (IPL) following the 2023 game.
Undoubtedly, the former captain is among the best captains the sport has ever had. Team India won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, the ODI World Cup in 2011, and the T20 World Cup in 2007 under his leadership.
The Men in Blue have not triumphed in any international ICC competition since Dhoni left, and most recently, India suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of England in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup.
To examine the disappointing performance in the event, BCCI has scheduled a meeting with the players. The Board is keen to boost Team India's performance by leveraging Captain Cool's extensive and rich experience.
Dhoni has already served as an interim member of Team India during the T20 World Cup in the UAE. Utilising Dhoni will also lessen the workload on head coach Rahul Dravid.
After the IPL in 2023, MS Dhoni is anticipated to retire and teach a select group of players. Rahul Dravid cannot handle the management of all three format teams at once.
One of the biggest names retained by CSK on IPL Retention Day was MS Dhoni, who will lead the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023.
Under the direction of Hardik Pandya, India will take on New Zealand in a three-match T20 series beginning on November 18 in New Zealand.
