Ingredients (Makes about 1 cup)

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1/2 cup well-shaken buttermilk

1 clove garlic

1 tablespoon finely chopped onion

1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt

1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives

1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley

1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh dill

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Preparation:

Whisk the mayonnaise and buttermilk in a small bowl.

Make a smooth paste of garlic and onion in a mixer with salt. Alternatively, you can use a mortar and pestle to make the paste.

Add this garlic-onion paste to the buttermilk mixture and add dry mustard.

Whisk everything together well.

Add the freshly ground black pepper, dill, parsley, and chives and stir to mix.

Add more fine sea salt to the dressing to season it.

To make the Avacado Ranch Salad Dressing you need:
  • Avocado – 1 ripe avocado which will serve as a great substitute for mayo used in typical ranch recipes
  • Garlic – fresh garlic cloves. Else you can also try garlic powder.
  • Yoghurt – Greek yoghurt is best. You can use regular yoghurt too if a greek one is not available.
  • Lemon juice – to add a fresh taste and tanginess. It also helps keep the avocado from turning brown.  Lime juice can also be used for a slightly different flavour
  • Apple cider vinegar –A teaspoon for tangy flavour and to preserve the avocado.
  • Seasonings – It is required to brighten up the whole dressing, don’t skip! A mixture of dried parsley, dried chives, dried dill, onion powder, garlic powder and salt/pepper. If you use fresh herbs in the recipe, just make sure to double the amount!
  • Milk– Use milk to dilute the consistency of this dressing. You can make this recipe with water which works just as great too. If you like a thicker dressing to use as a dip for veggies then add less milk/water. Another option is to use Almond Milk which will surely enhance the taste of the dip.
 Final Step in Avocado Ranch Dressing

 Simply make a nice and creamy paste by mixing all your ingredients into a food processor/blender.  Adjust the milk/water as per the consistency you want.
