Nothing warms you up like a cup of porridge on a chilly morning, and this Spiced Apple Porridge with Almond Butter which is an Easy-To-Prepare Healthy Breakfast Recipe only requires 10 minutes. A traditional breakfast dish, porridge doesn’t have to be boring thanks to this recipe for spiced apple porridge!

Spiced Apple Porridge with Almond Butter – Easy-To-Prepare Breakfast Recipe

 

For a delicious and nutritious start to the day, this Porridge combines warming spices with apples. Apples are exquisitely delicious when combined with Almond Butter and give the porridge a creamy taste.

Look no further if you want to add flavor to your breakfast porridge. For an added boost, this dish also includes mixed seeds. You can add pre-made mixes or make your own by combining pumpkin, sunflower, flax seeds, or anything else in your cupboard.

This Spiced Apple Porridge is spicy, nourishing, and mouthwatering. This is the 4th in the series – “Easy-To-Prepare Breakfast Recipes” for Thursday.
Ingredients
  • 200 gm porridge oats
  • 3 apples Sliced (Peeled and cored)
  • 1/2 – 1 ltr plant milk (Soya Milk/Almond Milk)
  • 50 gm Almond Butter
  • a small slice of ginger (grated)
  • Pinch nutmeg
  • ½ tsp cinnamon (or mixed spices)
  • A little water
  • A sprinkle of sugar (caster or granulated)
  • a drizzle of golden syrup/Honey,
  • some chopped nuts or seeds
  • Some cranberry for garnishing (as per your choice)
How to Prepare
Step 1

Take the oats and milk in a saucepan. Put it on low-medium heat.

Step 2

Add cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg

Step 3

Core and chop 2 apples and add to the oat-milk mix in the pan with 100ml water and cook gently until almost softened.

Step 4 

Core and thinly slice the remaining apple. Mix the Almond butter with a little water until you have a smooth-dropping consistency. Keep it aside for topping/garnishing.

Step 5

Bring to a boil, Stir continuously and simmer for 4-5 mins till the porridge cooks into a nice creamy one.

Add a little water if you prefer a little thinner consistency.

Step 6

Cook for 15-20 minutes and garnish it with toppings – apple slices with almond butter coated, sugar, golden syrup/maple/honey, some chopped nuts or seeds of your choice, cranberry, etc.

Tips and Tricks – How to cook THE BEST Spiced Apple Porridge:
Milk – Use only milk in the recipe for the creamiest porridge possible. Whole milk would be the utmost creamy choice if you consume dairy products. For non-dairy drinkers who want something extra creamy, I recommend almond milk, coconut milk, or oat milk.
Milk/Water Consistency– If you don’t want to use all milk, no problem; just combine your preferred milk with some water. You can use any desired combination % for this. I’ve even prepared this dish entirely with water in the past. Even if it isn’t as creamy, it still tastes delicious.
Stir Continuously –  I stir my oatmeal constantly as it cooks. The more you whisk the creamier is the outcome!
 Use Apple Pie Mix – Use apple pie mix instead if you don’t want to fiddle with spice jars and have it in your spice cabinet!
Save time by chopping– You can save time by slicing the apple for the oatmeal if you don’t want to dirty a grater. Instead of having large, uniform apple bits throughout the oats, grating the apple simply causes it to melt into them. Although I favor the grated method, go with your preference.
